Thirty-five years. That's the age of the Shapers Club this year — and it's more than just a round number on a poster. It's the story of two brothers who started shaping boards when they were still teenagers, and who, decades later, turned it into an 1800 m² workshop where they shape, where they surf the culture as much as the waves, where they have a drink, where they program concerts. On July 3rd and 4th, we're celebrating all of that in Marennes. And we're celebrating big.
What does 35 years mean?
It means thousands of boards coming out of the workshop. Three brands built over time — UWL for funboards and longboards, Cardinal for high-performance shortboards, Addiction for retro. It means shapers who have passed through here, customers who have become friends, and a place that is no longer just a workshop but a gathering point: the Shapers Club House.
It's this adventure that we want to celebrate. Not just among ourselves, but with everyone who has made it possible: yesterday, today, and those who are coming for the first time.
Friday, July 3: The Svinkels evening
We open the festivities with an evening hosted by two figures of French hip-hop, both members of Svinkels.
DJ Pone takes the decks for a DJ set like only he can do, before leaving the stage to Gérard Baste for an explosive live performance. Deejay Poas opens the evening and kicks off the celebrations.
Saturday, July 4: The village, from morning to night
From 10 am to midnight, the entire workshop area transforms into a festive village.
Food and drink — drink areas hosted by Gallia, Maison Villevert, La Martiniquaise and Deljoy, and a selection of food trucks to keep you going all day.
Activities — a giant belly slide, beer pong games, a pétanque tournament, a skate competition on the bowl, and a vintage photo booth designed by Enzo Lucia. For the most daring, Titi Tattoo is coming especially from Bordeaux: you can leave with an indelible souvenir. And a raffle throughout the day.
Music — from the afternoon until late at night. Ben Fern opens with his acoustic sounds in the style of Ben Harper, followed by Dîner de Famille, the iconic band from Oléron island, before ODJ closes the day.
Young and old, surfers or not: it's for everyone, and it's free.
